Christian Panic Attack Help
Panic can make your body feel unsafe even when you are not in immediate physical danger. This page offers small steps for panic with Christian language that does not shame you.
Quick Answer
A panic attack is not proof of weak faith. Start with grounding your body, slowing your breathing, and reaching out for help if symptoms feel unsafe or unfamiliar.
What this page covers:
- What panic can feel like
- Grounding steps
- Short prayers
- When to get urgent help
A gentle note: Still Here Faith offers Christian encouragement and resource navigation, not medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, pastoral counseling, crisis care, or emergency care.
If you are in immediate danger or thinking about harming yourself, call emergency services, call or text 988 in the U.S., or text HOME to 741741. Therapy, medication, pastoral care, and medical support can all be part of faithful care.
Panic is a body alarm
Panic can bring racing thoughts, tightness, trembling, short breath, dizziness, or fear. If symptoms are new, severe, or medically concerning, seek medical care.
A low-capacity grounding step
- Name five things you see.
- Name four things you feel.
- Put both feet on the floor.
- Exhale slowly.
- Say: I am having panic. I am not bad. I can get help.
A short prayer during panic
Jesus, stay with me while my body feels afraid. Help me breathe, ground, and receive care. Amen.
When to get urgent help
If you think you might be having a medical emergency, contact emergency services. If panic comes with self-harm thoughts or feeling unsafe, call or text 988 in the U.S.
One tiny next step
Put both feet on the floor and name five things you see. Then decide if you need medical or trusted-person support.
